Railroad Museum of New England

The RMNE was founded in January 1968. We have an extensive collection of New England rolling stock - locomotives of all types, passenger cars, freight cars, and cabooses. We have New England railroad artifacts dating from the 1840's to the present ... everything from tickets to signal towers to the photo archive of the New Haven Railroad and Thomaston station.

After two decades of preserving and restoring New England's railroad heritage, the Museum formed a railroad operating subsidiary, the Naugatuck Railroad Company, to operate the 19.5 miles of track from Waterbury to Torrington.

Foothills BMX

NUTMEG BMX is the governing body for the four operating tracks in the state. These tracks all race on different days each week with a season that runs from May through August. The "State Series" incorporates a point system in which, at seasons end, the number one rider in each classification and age group wins the right to wear the coveted #1 number plate on the front of his/her bicycle for the entire next season. Number plates are awarded from #1 through #10 in each class.

Action Wildlife Foundation, Inc.

Action Wildlife Foundation offers residents of CT, MA and NY the unusual opportunity of observing and learning about animals from North America, Africa, India, New Zealand, Asia and the Artic. Not only is a visit to AW an education in animal life and habitats, it is also a fun activity for children to touch and feed the smaller animals in our petting zoo. Older children and young adults are sure to be intrigued by the museum gallery.
